Welcome to the Imaging Department at Hillsboro Area Hospital. Our team is dedicated to serving your needs and we look forward to providing you with outstanding care by our team of experienced technologists. We work closely with your physician in order to provide results of your exam quickly because we understand how important this is to you and your loved ones. HAH is pleased to offer a wide-variety of diagnostic imaging studies. Here is a quick reference guide of our services:

OUR SERVICES

General X-ray
-X-ray
-GI Studies: barium enema, upper GI, barium swallow (esophagram), small bowel follow through, swallowing studies
-Urology studies: voiding cystograms, IVP’s
-Joint injections for pain (hip, shoulder, knee, wrist, ankle, etc)

BONE DENSITY

CT
-Head: brain, sinus, temporal bones (mastoids, IAC’s), facial bones, orbits
-Neck: soft tissue, parotid gland, c-spine for fracture
-Spine: cervical, thoracic, lumbar, sacrum
-Chest: for pulmonary embolism, pulmonary nodule, high resolution spiral CT, diaphragm, aortic dissection
-Abdomen: Liver 3 phase, pancreas, adrenal, kidney (for mass or infection)
-Pelvis: For pelvis / hip fracture
-Abdomen & Pelvis: renal / kidney stone protocol, abdomen & pelvis with contrast, abdominal aortic aneurysm
-Joints: shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankle, foot (also all long bones)

-Bone scan: 3 phase, specific area, whole body

-Muga scan (heart)

WHEN PREPARING FOR AN IMGAING STUDY…some information for our patients

MRI Scans: Please advise us if you have had cochlear implants, heart valve implants, metallic fragments (including shrapnel) or implants, neurostimulators, or pacemakers, or if you are pregnant, or weigh over 300 lbs.

CT Scan with Contrast: NO FOOD or DRINK (water and medicine is allowed) for 3 hours prior to examination.

Abdominal Ultrasound: Nothing to eat or drink for 8 hours prior to the exam.

Pelvic Ultrasound: Empty your bladder 1 & 1/2 hours prior to your exam. Begin drinking (4) four 8-ounce glasses of water (32 oz.). Be finished drinking 1 hour before the exam. Do not urinate during that time.

G.I. Series and/or Small Bowel: Nothing to eat or drink after midnight.

Barium Enema: Follow directions for the 48-hour preparation in the FLEET Barium Enema Kit #2. As prescribed for you by your physician.

IVP: Follow directions for the 48-hour preparation in the FLEET Barium Enema Kit #2. As prescribed for you by your physician.

Mammography: Do not use deodorant, powder or lotion on the breasts or underarms. For your comfort, a two-piece outfit is recommended. Bring previous mammogram films with you for a comparative study.
