Sunshine In, Sun Damage OUT

The Montgomery County Cancer Association and Hillsboro Area Hospital are teaming up to protect our community by providing sunscreen at locations around the county. Locations include Central Park Pool, the Hillsboro Sports Complex, Bremmer’s Sanctuary and the Nokomis public pool. Hillsboro Area Hospital will also have a mobile unit that will be at community events, like Old Settlers.

Why use sunscreen every day?
1. Both UVA and UVB rays cause Melanoma (Skin Cancer) which has the most diagnosed cases of all other cancers combined
2. UV rays are the strongest during the summer between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
3. Clouds do not filter out UV rays, meaning you’re still at risk for skin damage even when you cannot see the sun

Protect yourself by applying and reapplying every two hours. This project will continue on after the summer months as its important to wear sunscreen all year long.
