Representative Avery Bourne is partnering with Fusion Fitness and Aquatics Center to host a Personal Safety Seminar presented by Trooper Bryan of the Illinois State Police on Thursday, November 30th from 7-8 p.m. at the Hillsboro Area Health System Education Center.

“Come join us for an informative event that will provide you with some great tips on keeping you and your family safe,” said Bourne. “Learn from the Illinois State Police about the steps you can take online, in public, and at your home to avoid becoming a victim.”

Here are three basic rules for personal safety:

  • Stay alert and be aware of your surroundings.
  • Give the impression that you are calm, confident, and know where you are going.
  • Trust your instincts. If it doesn't look or feel right, it might not be.

Illinois State Police will be expanding on these basic principles and talking about new scams and crimes that are on the rise. They will also provide information about travel, in-store shopping, and online purchasing safety for the upcoming holiday season.

Rep. Bourne is asking individuals that would like to attend to RSVP. They can do this by calling her Litchfield District Office at (217)324-5200 before the event. The Hillsboro Area Health System Education Center is located at 1200 East Tremont Street in Hillsboro.
